The Crafts

Hand Loom

Hand-looming is the art of patience, precision, and heritage, producing beautifully soft fabrics with an effortless drape and luxurious feel. From ginghams and stripes to rich, textural tartans, each fabric is woven entirely by hand - no shortcuts, no machines, just skill and tradition.

It all starts with the cotton or linen yarn, which is hand-dyed and spun before being loaded onto a wooden loom. The weaver, seated at the loom, pedals and pulls the threads, carefully interlacing them to bring each pattern to life. In Kerala, we collaborate with a remarkable cooperative where every artisan has a voice, fair pay is protected, and the entire process - from spinning to dyeing to washing - happens under one roof. Their fabrics are so exquisite, it’s hard to believe they’re entirely made by hand.

In Bangalore, we work with a family of skilled weavers specialising in Ikat, a technique that involves pre-dyeing the threads before weaving, creating a mesmerising, two-tone effect. The result? Fabrics that are rich in depth, texture, and character.

Hand-looming is true slow fashion - an art form at risk of disappearing. By championing this craft, we ensure it lives on, weaving at least one hand-loomed fabric into every collection. Because fashion should feel as good as it looks.
