At Pink City Prints, we want to make sure that our dresses do good, as well as making you feel good. That’s why we’re committed to choosing fabrics that will last you a lifetime and won’t harm our wonderful world during production. Organic cotton is one of our most popular choices, and it’s great for the environment in many ways. Read on to find out why we’re so obsessed.
Better for you, better for the planet
Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides, plastic or any other harmful chemicals which typically speed up cotton production, at a cost to the environment. We’re committed to slow fashion; growing cotton carefully, using minimal impact farming methods and making sure the soil we use to grow our cotton can be used again and again.
We’ll always prioritise high-quality, ethically sourced fabrics over cheap, unsustainable options. We support farmers who genuinely care about their land, who utilise traditional farming techniques which don’t damage the environment. And it’s not just the farmers who benefit; organic cotton means there’s no trace of pesticides in your garments, making them safer to wear and wash than non-organic alternatives. It’s a win-win.
Block-printed by hand, the Scarlet Forest Isabel High Neck is a beautiful summer favourite. Whilst it offers long sleeves for extra coverage, the choice of organic cotton keeps the style breathable and comfortable for any occasion. We love the subtle ricrac finish in the skirt, and the flattering smocked body which creates the perfect fit. We’ll be wearing this to garden parties, summer weddings and dinners out.
If you’ve got a holiday on the horizon, the Udaipur Buta Maree Dress is the one for you. With a flattering, sweetheart neckline, adjustable straps and a smocked back, the Maree dress fits like a dream. It’s fully lined to add a hint of luxury, yet still completely breathable due to the use of organic cotton. We’re obsessed with the pretty, fabric covered buttons to finish and the lovely hand-printed butas which decorate this dress.
For the perfect everyday look, we’re wearing the Cobalt Mini Blossom Bea Blouse on repeat. Pair with breezy linen trousers when working from home, or contrast with our Scarlet Forest Cienna Skirt for coffee shop dates. Crafted from breathable organic cotton, this wafty style is comfortable and flattering, finished with the prettiest hand-embroidered yoke.
Organic cotton is not the only fabric we’ll be living in this summer. Linen, derived from flax plant fibres and therefore completely natural and biodegradable, is another Pink City Prints favourite. We love the luxurious feel of linen, as well as its cool touch and breathability, making it perfect for the warmer days ahead.
If you’re looking for a linen piece to add to your wardrobe, our hand-embroidered Strawberry Stripe Lorenza dress is the one for you. With a flattering, fitted body, luxurious drape and delicate strawberry details, the Lorenza is good enough to eat. If you’re looking for the perfect poolside piece, we’d suggest throwing on the Strawberry Stripe Capri Kaftan - totally delicious.
Mixing cotton and linen is the best way to reap the benefits of both fabrics; the finished fabric has all the luxury of linen mixed with the beautiful drape of cotton. Our Emerald Stripe Serena Dress is the perfect example; fitted and chic, this style is great dressed up with strappy white heels for any occasion.
In our dedication to preserving traditional craftsmanship, we embrace the art of hand looming. This meticulous technique involves hand-spinning and dyeing cotton threads, which are then delivered to skilled weavers in villages outside of Kolkata.
The Pink City Prints artisans meticulously weave cotton fabric on wooden looms, a process that requires considerable time and expertise.
By supporting hand looming, we contribute to the livelihoods of these skilled artisans and showcase the beauty of their craft.
Pink City Prints was founded with a vision to preserve the traditional crafts of India's Pink City while promoting sustainable practices. Our skilled artisans meticulously handcraft our garments in limited quantities, using locally sourced materials with a strong emphasis on organic cotton.
By choosing organic cotton, we support the well-being of farmers, protect the environment, and ensure the exceptional quality of our products.
Celebrate summer with organic cotton, a light and sustainable fabric that combines comfort, breathability, and the rich craftsmanship of Indian artisans.
We are committed to making durable, timeless pieces that you will wear for years to come.
