Meet Jayne Pickering

Meet Jayne Pickering

From Vogue to US Glamour, to becoming a director at Marie Claire, Jayne Pickering’s career in the fashion industry is certainly one to be admired. Regardless of her impressive credentials, Jayne is a warm and friendly host who welcomed us to her West London home with a relaxed demeanor and a smile on her face. Jayne’s style is effortless and sophisticated, pairing timeless accessories with pretty floral dresses in a way that makes it look so easy.

It’s always a joy to shoot with a stylist so thank you for working with us. What inspired you to pursue a career in fashion?

I always loved clothes from a very early age and when I discovered later in my life that you could make a career out of this passion it was an easy decision to make! It has never felt like work to me. I’m very blessed in that sense.

What has been the biggest highlight of your career to date?

Styling Beyoncé for a Marie Claire Cover - the experience of a lifetime.

What advice would you give to someone trying to break into the fashion industry?

Be prepared to start at the bottom, keep your head down, work hard and look and learn. It takes time to build a reputation in the fashion industry, and there’s no quick-fix for getting there.

Your style is completely flawless! What tips would you give for elevating your wardrobe?

Keep it simple. Don’t copy what looks good on somebody else as it might not work on you. Find your own style and stick to it!

Which is your favourite Pink City Prints’ piece, and how will you be styling this?

The Olivia Dress that I am wearing in these pictures. It’s so easy and I love the sleeve length and neckline. I will wear it in the city with trainers or Venetian flat velvet slippers and Flip Flops when it’s very hot.
